Ask Allye

Little things can make a BIG difference. The Southwest Missouri area is blessed to have such a wonderful giving community and amazingly enough it's not just the adults who are doing their part to make the Ozarks a better place.

TAME asked Allye "How are local kids getting involved and helping out the animal community in Southwest Missouri?"

I've been doing my research to find kids that have made an impact in the lives of animals here in Springfield and I'm happy to report that there are kids all around Springfield are doing amazing things to help out the local animal shelters and rescue centers.I was lucky enough to get an exclusive interview with Olivia Gammill, a Nixa 4th grader. This year Olivia planned a dog walk called Trails 4 Tails, a dog parade and costume contest which benefited Canines and Cats Adoption Station. With the help of the community, Olivia raised OVER 500 DOLLARS for this organization. Great job Olivia!

Olivia isn't the only kid in the Ozarks who's making a difference. Thirteen year old, McKenzie Robbins used her birthday party as an opportunity to support the needs of SAAF. McKenzie unselfishly asked all her friends and family to bring pet food and supplies instead of gifts for her. McKenzie's family was extremely proud of her for celebrating her birthday this way. What an incredible act of kindness! She raised over $350! Way to go!

I hope the good deeds performed by these kids will inspire everyone to take action. It doesn't matter how old you are, where you are from, or even if you have pets, you can help. You can do something little, big, typical, or creative; everything you do can make a huge difference in the lives of animals!
